I really like how you handled the foreground tree trunk - really, really. And those shadows aren't so bad. What I am liking about your work is that you don't go into super realism - you have already developed your own style and those shadows are fine. I mean, think about it, my friends are telling me how much better I am doing after viewing your paintings! You need to not be so critical of your own work - but then that's what makes us artists, right? The striving for perfection. Wow - keep going!
I have had a comb and brush in my hand all my life.
I cut my mom's hair when I was eleven. Quite a tribute to her trust in my talent. She would touch my hands and say, "Hattigrace, everything you touch, you make beautiful."
How could I have not suceeded? I still cannot pass a hair salon, in any country, without pressing my nose to the window and looking in to see what styles are being produced.
Hair is magical to me. If it is well done, a woman feels like a queen. Poorly done, she hangs her head in shame. So, what a pleasure to help women feel beautiful!

Hi Hattie!
It's Michael from the Divine Mercy mission at St. Ann's.
I REALLY like this piece of yours. Have you ever seen Japanese art? Yours would be "too busy" for Zen, but it's still a very fine drawing.
The simplicity is still there and I do like the perspective displayed.
Good luck with it all
Pax Domini sit semper vobiscum
